Sheila Melton
Sheila Melton, a member of the Florida – South Florida Chapter was nominated by Caroline Forbes for her commendable dedication to the organization to The NETwork and her community. Sheila is always 1st in line to volunteer her time or resources to make any event a success.
Within the past few months Sheila’s volunteer efforts have helped to make our chapter’s last few events a success:
• Christmas activity with Angel Tree Ministry, where she generously donated IPODs and toys for four angels she adopted. Additionally, Sheila’s artistic creativity was on display as she bought and donated decorative items to create a photo memory for all the participants.
• Instrumental in the celebration of Black History Month in Sunrise over the years, as promotes an awareness of the cultural diversity by contributing to a cultural display during the month, and a celebration luncheon showcasing a black culinary experience. She even transported food for the salad bar held in Sunrise to raise funds for the 2020 AT&T Black History Calendar launch on February 27, 2020
• Volunteers with Hope South Florida which is a homeless shelter providing meals for over 100 guests. South Florida NETwork Chapter donates toiletries, clothing, and manpower to assist with feeding the homeless. These events are held on Tuesdays, and coincides with the ‘Turn Up Tuesdays’, which encourages our members to volunteer to help the homeless in our communities.
Sheila also generously volunteers in her community with at risk children. Being a mentor and “Auntie” to many by supporting their academic and sporting endeavors, she instills a regard for heritage and forward thinking for success. Sheila supports their entrepreneurial efforts whether it is partnering to help with Girl Scout cookies or fund-raising for students going to college.
Sheila Melton’s drive and passion for Network activities and her community engagements where she promotes awareness of social issues makes her a wonderful candidate for this recognition.
